Professor McKeown's group at Stanford helped invent Software Defined Networking - SDN, a technology which will revolutionize computer networks. In his interview with KZSU, Professor McKeown described how SDN started, its future and the many opportunities that exist for entrepreneurs and innovators in this field. The SDN architecture decouples network control and forwarding functions, making network control directly programmable and allowing the underlying infrastructure to be abstracted for applications and network services. The OpenFlow® protocol is a foundational element for building SDN solutions.
